We are excited to announce the arrival of Sydney Elizabeth Saxton, born Sunday, July 5th, at 8:33am. She weighed in at 6 lbs and was 19 1/2 inches long.
We were actually scheduled for an induction on July 7th, so were a bit surprised when I went into labor during dinner on July 4th. Things progressed fairly quickly so we rushed around getting things organized at home, figuring out what to do with Vandy, pack our last minute items and get to the hospital. It was a long night and we were both exhausted by morning, but delivery went great and it's pretty amazing to think that we are officially parents!
We came home yesterday and things are going really well. Sydney is eating and sleeping well and is really not fussy at all. She's still adjusting so that could all change! We had our first pediatric appointment today and she was up to 5 lbs 12 ounces from 5 lbs 7 ounces when we left the hospital yesterday. Newborns loose anywhere from 8-10% of their body weight in the first few days, but she's almost back up to where she started, which is great.
