I'm not sure how much credit I can take for "surviving" the last three weeks since my mom was here for the first two since Sydney was born and Jeff's mom was here this past week. I guess we'll find out how together I have it come Monday!
It has been really nice and really helpful having our moms here to help the last few weeks. And, of course, just nice to have the company as well. Many thanks to the grandmas for holding Sydney, entertaining Vandy, helping with cooking and cleaning and allowing me to sneak out and do a few personal things without lugging a car seat around.
It's amazing how much Sydney changes week to week. She's becoming more alert, spending more hours awake and, although she's fairly low maintenance and low fuss, she'll definitely let you know when she's hungry, wants to be held or wants you to change positions. She's great in her stroller so we've been taking regular evening walks and are back to our weekend routine of Caribou and Brueggers Bagels. She's also great in the car and running around town. We took her out to lunch and dinner a couple of times this past week and around town running a few errands today and she did great. She is finally up to seven pounds and finally fitting into her newborn clothes. This is quite exciting since she's been living in the few super small newborn outfits that we could find since she's way too long for preemie. It's nice to know that all those cute little outfits won't go to waste!
It's a good thing too that Sydney is a fairly easy baby because Vandy is still a handful and growing like a weed. He's up to 40 lbs, which is just about too heavy for me to lift in and out of the car so we may have to invest in a ramp until he's old enough and big enough to jump in and out himself. We started dog training two weeks ago and Vandy has responded very well. So far, learning to walk correctly on a lease and sitting have been our biggest accomplishments, but the other stuff is coming....just a little bit slower. We don't think he'll ever stop biting and chewing, so we may just be counting down the weeks until he eventually outgrows it. We also started doggie daycare this past week to give Vandy some canine socialization and me some much needed respite. Vandy loves it and is completely exhausted by the time he gets home. We're only sending him two days a week, but it has definitely made things around here a hundred times less stressful.
All in all, we are all doing great and enjoying watching Sydney grow every day. We are trying to keep up with taking pictures, which is getting easier now that she awake more often.
