It's been a while since we've dedicated a post to Vandy. Unfortunately, he has definitely noticed that he's given up his #1 spot when it comes to attention in this household, but we're trying very hard to make up for it.
Vandy is on his third week of daycare and loves it. He runs to the front door when we drop him off and usually walks out completely exhausted after a full day of playing. The facility itself is great. It primarily functions as a grooming facility (the owner is the top groomer in the state) and the owner opens up the daycare portion to just those dogs that are his clients. We were lucky to be referred by our trainer since he doesn't advertise and isn't "open to the public". There's a maximum of 10 dogs a day and, unfortunate for us, a weight limit of 50 lbs. So, this may be short lived for Vandy depending on his behavior as he grows bigger. But it's great for now and the dogs get so much individual attention.
It's amazing how much he has grown since we brought him home almost three months ago. He's now over 40 lbs and I swear his paws just keep getting bigger. He's really a beautiful dog. We try to walk every night and just about every one stops to pet him and say how nice looking he is. No one ever even notices that we were pushing around a newborn baby!
Vandy is improving on the training front, but hasn't quite grown out of all the bad puppy habits he's developed. He knows he can't chew on the furniture, but, if he's looking for attention, the couch leg or corner of the rug is a good place to start. But, overall he's gotten a lot better and we're hoping it just continues to improve.
Click here to see a few photos of Vandy being Vandy. The first few are some random shots, the middle ones are of him playing outside in the front yard. I know I'm not supposed to dig in the flower beds, but it's just so hard! And the last few are Vandy's attempt at protesting going to bed (we've moved his bedtime crate to Jeff's office).
